100% Recylable Plastic “Ice” Used for Rinks in Scandinavia

fake-ice-rink.jpgThe southern portions of Scandinavia can no longer rely on the climate to provide temperatures cold enough for outdoor ice skating rinks.  Instead, plastic rinks made of a thin layer of polyethylene coated with propylene glycol are being used to reduce carbon emissions and lessen upkeep costs. The rinks are 100% recyclable.

  1. A most excellent idea! I am so amazed at what humans can do when minds are put together for the greater good.

  2. Those plastic rinks are no good. They are used in Prague around christmas time. Not enough friction. It’s strange falling on it too - it’s not cold!
