Let Kids be Kids … Outdoors

(Photo courtesy of Steve Ford Elliott via Wikimedia Commons.)In yet another sad commentary on today’s generation of children, researchers in the U.K. report that 25 percent of British children between the ages of 8 and 10 have never played outside without an adult close by. Meanwhile, in the U.S., too many children find nature boring unless it’s on TV. Hey, spring’s here: time to get the kids outdoors to garden, hike, or birdwatch!

  1. Children between the ages 8 and 10 should never play outside without and adult close by. It’s not sad, it’s called being a good parent. A child of 8 is not old enough to deal with any unsafe situations or fend off any predators.
