Hops can be grown by home gardeners, so can small crops of barley, and as the climate warms, we move north, to cooler areas? How bout "Tundra Beer"? Perhaps the great Siberian land area will be cool enough, at least for my life time? Beer, the Holy Grail of beverages for the Americas will be available, even if we have to grow the barley in refrigerated tents in the far north! The shortages have increased so much due to poor weather that many Hop farmers are looking to Hydroponics. I'm not sure about the state of barley, but whatever the case, all you need is a decrease in the production of one to increase the cost of the product. BillyBob and Jon, it may not be Global Warming, but that doesn't change the fact that micro brews will raise prices. The situation is really bad for hops.
