Having installed and supplied thousands of solar systems since the '70's in Florida, all with high limit protection, I personally know two of the largest distributors in Hawaii, both of whom supply systems with high limit protection. You may wish to further your research as you can not beat a well designed and installed solar water heater. Tell Rolf, Cully or Rick that Ben from Florida suggested you call their distribution center. You may want to mention anodic protection maintenance which can make the tank life last 20+ years. It had a PV grid tie system installed.I could not get the realators involved to tell me anything about the system, so that I could evaluate whether the home was a good buy.I believe the hawaii law should allow a propane fired instant water heater or a solar assisted electric, buyers choice.
