Big Brother is Watching You … Riding Your Bike
In yet another dispatch from the “No Good Deed Goes Unpunished” Department (see previous entries here and here), the Chicago Tribune reports this week that the growing popularity of biking around town is being welcomed with increased attention from law enforcement. Police and city “Bicycle Ambassadors” say they’re mostly issuing warnings and fliers out of concern for bikers’ safety. But more aggressive action (read, “tickets = city revenue”) is expected.

Bikers NEED a lot more tickets.
Bikers routinely: Run red lights, unsafely pass, ride on sidewalks, run down pedestrians, tie up their bikes to objects that can be damaged, and hack a condescending attitude by being the most self-entitled, and loud drivers on the road.
That’s funny I’ve seen a lot of cars doing that to.
How exactly do they give you a ticket? It is not like you have to have a drivers license to ride a bike. Then again i consider 99% of traffic laws and law enforcement in general to be full of shit.
As long as cycling is seen as a dangerous activity, only those seeking danger will cycle. (and break traffic laws)
