Guerrilla Gardening: Vigilante Green Thumbs Illegally Plant in Public Places

Guerilla GardeningGuerrilla Gardening is popular in London, where gardeners illegally, under the cover of night, cultivate plants in public spaces.  Food, flowers, and trees are planted where weeds once grew, providing the public with beauty and free food.  Technically, guerilla gardeners are participating in “criminal damage” under the law.

  1. Love it! I actually work with a woman who did something similar when she lived in Lexington KY! I’m going to share this with my friends in The Backyard community: https://backyard.netshops.com/

  3. I love this!!! I have been planning to do this here in my city in Southern France. I have my eyes set on some spots!!!

  4. Here in Canada, a walk in the woods often reveals the work of these night-gnomes! Whole plantations of marijuana are often stumbled upon! We never report this, as it would bring the eire of the fairy world upon our heads and may even anger the leprechauns! Usually we snip a bit, for personal use, and leave the area, grateful to the night creatures that plant for our pleasure when no one is looking.

  7. Hey, Uncle B! I’m in Canada, too, and I walk in the woods every day. I’ve yet to find a marijuana plot in the middle of the woods, but I’m annoyed that the cops fly over our island again and again in the spring and summer months, looking for pot plantations. The helicopter noise is really annoying when they do this. I’d rather have a few pot-growers than annoying helicopter traffic, wouldn’t you?

On this island, we don’t have guerrilla gardening, but we do have guerrilla trail-building. You’d be amazed at the fantastic network of secret trails, complete with trail markers, bridges, etc. None of it is visible from any road or main path, so only the super-observant will ever find any of it. It’s great!

  8. Awesome. Love it. Maybe put little black bars over the eyes in the pics to protect the rascals. :)

  9. While living in S. Korea, I noticed that this happened quite often.
