A Project to Build Greenhouses in the Sahara
Of all places to start a greenhouse, the Sahara Desert would likely rank pretty low for many. But someone is working on a plan to make food growing happen there. The Sahara Forest Project aims to use massive greenhouses to direct the sun’s rays for heat and energy, which is planned to regulate the air, filter water and create an environment for plant growth.

Wonderful idea! Green the deserts of the world one square at a time. C02 problem solved, high sunlight areas could grow GMO’ed high oil producing hardy weeds to supply bio-diesel to the world! Temperature differential, day to night could be exploited for power generation, greenhouse temp moderation, Solar energy to pump water from deep down. Sounds like a long term money making scheme for oil barons with deep pockets and lots of engineering skills available. Europe at one time had planned huge solar electric developments for the Sahara, combine this with that, and bingo apair of mutually beneficial money makers!
