Want to Save the Earth? UN Says Cut Meat From Your Diet Once a Week
According to the UN’s Food and Agriculture Organisation, meat production is responsible for nearly a fifth of global greenhouse gas emissions. Dr Rajendra Pachauri, chair of the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and Nobel Peace Prize winner, suggested:
In terms of immediacy of action and the feasibility of bringing about reductions in a short period of time, it clearly is the most attractive opportunity. Give up meat for one day [a week] initially, and decrease it from there.

Check out John Robbins early books. Yes, the Baskin & Robbins heir. Great stuff on the meat/pollution/famine issues that I was lucky enough to read many years ago. If only Oprah had read it 15 years ago look where we might be!

All Americans will be giving up their current eating habits and will increase their veggie intake to compensate for the bulk they are accustomed to having in their stomachs. Massive unemployment followed by weak underemployment will render the former American lifestyle impossible to maintain. The markets will reflect this by adding cheap fiber to prepared foods in larger amounts and by marketing fewer high protein products as well. GM and Chrysler will merge, fail and disappear to the history books. Ford will shrivel into a series of dealerships selling Asian models. Most American manufactured products have been priced off of the world markets by Asian equivalents. America is in for a belt-tightening as never before! Asians actually export food to the U.S.A. The “Starving Yellow Hoards” of yesteryear’s history books have had a great turn-around, and now lead us in every way! Even our well over-fed students can’t rank with the Asians! We will soon export the beef formerly grown for our tables for medicines and manufactured Asian products! Last Call America! Last Call!
