The Q Drum, developed in South Africa, is aiding water transportation for those in poorer nations with distances to trek just to gain this most basic resource. The design allows relatively easy towing of 50 liters of water across reasonably flat terrains.

Looks impossible to clean. You’d need to cut it in half to reach every edge.
Lovely idea!
@fluxme:
You could almost say the same about the water in some regions out there…
i don’t think they’re gonna bitch about how clean the thing is.
worry about cleaning it later. getting it is the problem that needs to be solved now, and that seems like a step in the right direction
Looks like a back saver! I love simple changes that have a big impact.
@fluxme: do you always miss the point by so far?
Why dont they just put the water containers in the back of a car or something?

Dylon, you’re a moron
It’d be fun and convenient if they had an atv or something.

“It’d be fun and convenient if they had an atv or something.”
your still a moron…..
hahaha i can fit liek 2500 liters of watter in my dad’s hummer H3, u poor ppl need to get a faucet
hehe some answers crack me up.
I think the idea is fantastic, i love the simplicity and how easy/affordable it is.
About the cleaning, who cares, its hard duty plastic that won’t break or “pollute” the water as it is poured from one of the sides through a hole.
People over there have to rely on walking to get water/food, little they can get a car.
Hope this design gets places
you guys are morons, they could totally put it in an atv or maybe even a motorbike
or maybe they should just buy mineral water like everyone else…
lmao people are dumb,
but the inventions one of the better ones ive seen
and there going to boil the water anyways,
so dont worry about the dirt
and lmao at dylon
Dylon. . .First off did you pass the 5th grade? Secondly, if they don’t have running water and such basic things do u really think and atv or motorbike is an option for them?
Guys, Dylon is obviously kidding. Hes being an internet troll to get attention. And it looks like its working, good job Dylon you rock. This really IS easier than making friends.
As for the container: it seems like if you were too tall you wouldn’t be able to roll it, and it would just drag. Probably not so easy then.
You have got to be fucking kidding me.
A fucking hollow circle? The wheel was invented a while back and they are just now figuring out how to make variations? Jesus, and think, there were people who wanted to give LAPTOPS to these people.
What a shit hole.
@ WTF:
After Christopher Columbus’ “discovery” of America, people were all like, “oh, anybody could do that”, so Chris held a banquet and each person invited was given a hard-boiled egg. He asked each patron to balance the egg on its tip, and of course, none succeeded. Finally, he smashed the tip of his egg on the table, and it caved in and balanced. He said, “you see, anybody can do something, once they’ve been shown.”
@WTF: I don’t think they have plastic readily available so they wouldn’t have been able to do this without the world’s help.
@dylon: I love your satire =D keep it up
This immediately made me think of the lawn roller that I have at home–just fill the round container with water and get to work by pushing or pulling on the handles. Rats. Why didn’t I think of suggesting such a tool for water transport?! Yikes, now I’m motivated and may yet make a difference in this world.
ur all ugly

Mom? What are you doing online???
Why don’t they just stop breeding? I mean, isn’t true what Stalin once said about solving problems when he said “No man, no problem”
This is a step forward to improve the lives of people living in Africa, this totally made my day, i hope they keep bringing ideas for that continent.
help the earth!!! make it green again!!!!!!!!!!
looks like it would ware out the rope though.
Looks great as long as there is no rough terrain, harder to carry then a 5 gallon jug on your head
