Alaska’s governor Sarah Palin has announced that the state of Alaska plans to sue the federal government over its decision to place beluga whales from Anchorage’s Cook Inlet on the Endangered Species List.
Palin is said to be against the decision because of the effects it may have on oil and gas developments and the expansion of the city’s port. (The area happens to be a mature oil-producing basin.)
The population of beluga whales in the Cook Inlet is down to 375, after previously being in the thousands. Scientists have determined the whales could face extinction in less than 100 years if no action is taken to protect them.
It seems as though governor Palin is willing to put the survival of clearly endangered species such as polar bears and whales at risk for the benefit of herself and the oil companies.

I not sure she is going to have much to worry about in a couple of years. This country is failing and the democrats are making it worse. There will be no money to enforce laws very soon.

I’d like to see Alaska succeed from the union. The feds would freak because we’d have to change every flag in the country. Oh, and oil. Lots of oil up there.

It is clear that there are people that know whats going on in Alaska and other people that probably shouldn’t write these articles or read them.. She wants to put a few pilings into the ocean to support platforms to expand the port and such.. Can somebody please tell me how that affects the whales? I’ve lived there and never seen a Beluga whale come close to the port or the part of the inlet that they are talking about, its the mouth of a freaking river and Sarah Palin is a great human being.
There also has never been any plans for drilling in the cook inlet.. They have the North Slope and ANWR if some of those hippies would stop trying to stop the drilling up there.. Fly up to that area, the commercials about ANWR and the polar bears are pure fraud.
