"Still, can a mansion ever TRULY be green?"

No. And this is the problem with greenwashing. Too many "Greens" don't understand that we are facing multiple fronts when it comes to the energy and climate. It is not enough to be green - particularly since "green" really isn't. How much fossil fuel does it take to make, ship and install solar panels? When do the solar panels make up for that embedded energy?

What we need to do is create sustainable communities, not just green. Sustainable means everyone on the planet could live like Larry Page and we'd never run out of resources. People should look up Liebig's Minimum to get a quick sense of other limits. It's not just about energy. But, oil production, is starting to decline. If everyone on the planet lived like Americans, we'd burn through every drop of it in about 5 years.

Page is being irresponsible from an ecological and sustainable perspective.
