I totally agree with you. It's a bit like owning a star. Yeah right! Nature was here before us and it will be here after we are gone. Who owns it then?

I think 'owning' of natural things is ridiculous. I appreciate it costs money to ensure land is protected but you should take into account the freedom of natural beauty</a>. We are lucky in England that most parks and protected habitats are free to roam.

Just to shine a little more light on this ...the body of water to which Pebble Beach is adjacent to and derives much of its coastal beauty from is ...The Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary! The Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary is 1 of 13 National Marine Sanctuaries in the United States. It is the largest of all the National Marine Sancturaies and it is larger than Yellowstone and Yosemite National Parks combined. The Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary is home to 33 species of marine mammals, 94 species of sea birds, 345 species of fishes and America's largest kelp forest. National Marine Sanctuaries are our country's underwater treasures and they belong to every American citizen.
